In the 4,020 days since he left Crystal Palace, in October 2013, Holloway has been in full-time management for 1,330. That is not in itself an inherent problem, but speaks to a manager who will need to quickly adapt to the rigours of his work.

Discussions with Holloway advanced quickly over the past 24 hours, after the decision was made to part company with Mark Kennedy with Town sitting 22nd in League Two.

Most fans only care about two things: entertainment and results. The Swindon Town of Mark Kennedy delivered too little of either, far too irregularly.

Kennedy was sacked on Friday (October 25), with Town sitting 22nd in League Two, having managed just two league victories - and three in all competitions - during his brief time in Wiltshire.
The circumstances at Swindon have gone well beyond worry, sailed past acute concern, and piled straight into pure panic. Among the supporters, at least.

In the wake of growing criticism following a handful of prominent mistakes, Mark Kennedy has stated on several occasions that statistically the loanee is among the best defenders in League Two. The Moonraker takes a look.
Head coach Mark Kennedy would prefer to give the centre-back the chance to work in Wiltshire on Tuesday and Wednesday, rather than take the team bus to Greater Manchester and likely not be involved on matchday.

The 24-year-old made just one league appearance, as an 85th-minute substitute during a home win over Ebbsfleet, and Maidenhead did not seek to extend his stay.

League Two is without heavyweights this season. It is open, volatile, and the quality is low. That makes the lowering of expectations even more unpalatable.
The Swindon Town striker was replaced by Matt Smith at the interval on Saturday, sparking fears about his fitness. However, after the game Kennedy confirmed that the decision was precautionary.

TACTICS: Molyneux plays a crucial role in a Donny team that likes to attack at pace, with a focus on the speed of their transitions from final third to final third.

Head coach Mark Kennedy has rued bad luck repeatedly, and while it is justifiable to slap that back as a lame excuse, increasingly there seems to be evidence to suggest the difference between a dreadful campaign and a relatively good one is going to be wafer-thin.
Preparations for the games against Cheltenham Town last weekend and Doncaster Rovers this Saturday (October 19) have been hit, while the youth team has also suffered.

TEAM NEWS: The striker served a three-match ban for violent conduct following his red card against Barrow on September 7, and then fell ill with a virus and tonsilitis within days of being eligible for selection once again.
Over the course of the past 12 seasons, Town and Colchester have gracelessly tripped over the first hurdle on nine occasions each. In all rounds in that time, they have lost to non-League opposition nine times between them.

Town have won one of their last eight home FA Cup games, while the visiting Us have not won away from home against league opposition in the tournament since November 2011.
14.10.24News
In the away form table this season Town sit ninth. Only four teams have taken more points on their travels in 2024/25: Vale, Notts County, Fleetwood and Grimsby. Contrastingly, Swindon’s home form is the third worst in the division.

Head coach Mark Kennedy stressed that the striker has not torn a muscle, and as such his recovery time ought to be relatively quick, but the knock left Town with just one recognised first-team forward for the game at Whaddon Road.
13.10.24News
To mark three decades since the death of one of the club's favourite sons, The Moonraker speaks to prominent former figures at Town and pays tribute to the larger-than-life Morris.
